Ashton's top 10 animes!

My top 10 list of my favourite current animes. Will often change.

01

1. Kuroshitsuji

Yeah, I know that a lot of people would definitely have this one in their list; but I love this anime. I adore the storyline, the high-class characters, and the diversity on the whole. Plus, I have to admit, the dub is actually quite okay.

2. Kimi Ni Todoke

Wow, a guy likes a romance anime? What a surprise! I'm usually not interested in romance-type animes but I can't help but have this at the top of my charts. It's not entirely focused around the aspect of love but mostly the friendship and hardships of the protagonist. It's logical, very relatable to reality and may even help you with your own life.

3. Free! Iwatobi Swim Club

This anime became very popular with the girls in my homeschooling classes and they had recommended it to me a few months ago. It was being agressively talked about on tumblr and I had found out that it included hot shirtless guys, so I decided to check it out. Even if I wasn't homosexual, this anime really would have appealed to me anyway. I love it, not just because of the shirtless guys, but because of the entire plot and characters, and how their relationships build up. Overall, I understand why it became so popular so quickly.

4. Hunter X Hunter 2011

This anime has always been one of my favourites. The action, humour and backstories of the characters are well-thought through, and despite the length, it managed to keep me interested through the whole show. There are also two movies, another claimed to be coming eventually, but unfortunately the two that are currently released are not official; and do not follow along with the storyline. One of the movies are animated by a whole different company, also.

5. Hetalia

The fandom may be a little out-of-hand, but that does not change my view of this anime. From the first episode released to the most recent, I had been hooked to the wonderful humour. The show is like a history book, but filled with colours and personality with individual characters that display events in the timeline of history; that still teach you everything a teacher could and more.

06

6. Danganronpa

I'm very into murder mysteries myself. I had first played the game that came before this anime and I was mesmerised as to how much I loved it. I've been told that I have a great knack for understanding things quickly, and I had finished the game in a matter of a couple of days. The anime came out after, and though not as quite matchable quality, I couldn't let this not get onto my list. There was a sequel to the game made as well, and in the near future there is apparently an anime to be created off it.

07

7. Ouran Highschool Host Club

When I had first heard of this anime, the idea of a host club did not interest me at all, in fact it put me off the show entirely. But after a few months, when it had become very popular, I decided to give it a try. I found, whilst watching it, that it was not exactly based on the romance between two characters, though slightly hinted; but was mostly based on the humour around the club and the adventures they go through, and people they meet. Whilst I was not too interested in the love side of it, though I greatly appreciate that the romance was only light, I grew very fond of the characters and how much better it got as I watched more.

08

8. Angel Beats!

I know that this is a very well-known one, but I can't express in any other way how much I enjoyed watching this anime. It was sad at points, but not as sad as others (such as Clannad, and Clannad After Story); but the occasional humour balanced out the emotion. The storyline is unique, but I must say that one of the charaters, Yurippe, greatly resembles the much-loved Haruhi Suzumiya. I do understand that they got permission for the design, of course. Overall, this anime is a definite recommendation if not seen already.

09

9. K (K Project)

K was a beautiful anime. The whole plot and characters amazed me and the animation could not have been altered in any way. It ended in an unfortunate and sad way, but there was a movie that came out just recently that followed mainly on the manga, introducing new characters to their animation style and a little more information on the existing characters.

10

10. Shiki

Though Owari no Seraph has recently released as the new popular vampire anime, I must say that I loved this show. A lot of people did, and still do. The characters are unique, and the storyline is sad and realistic, putting you in a position that makes you realise that if vampires were to take over the world, it would end like Shiki did. Not much to say about this one, but I'll be sure to create a review in time.

So that was my Top 10 list of my favourite anime. If you feel as though you need to debate about my list, or you feel like I have missed an important anime, feel free to email me on emaail.ashton@gmail.com. All of the animes listed will be reviewed, so check them out if you want a bigger view of the plots.

Have a lovely day!
